Bates Solicitors Limited were delighted to be offered the opportunity to sponsor the Musical Evening with a Selection of Operatic Airs performed by the Lyricanto Choir Saturday 4 November 2017.
The choir has won many awards in Europe and this special event was organised by The Rotary Club of Odiham and Hook and The Rotary Club of Colfontaine-Borinage in Belgium.
The performance was directed by Jeanne Lhote and feature pianist Beatrice Mestdagh and organist Jean-Michel Sapin. The programme included Autumn Leaves, Ave Maria, Flight of the Bumble Bee, The Impossible Dream, Memory (from Cats) and Bohemian Rhapsody (Freddie Mercury) in addition to several well-known operatic arias
The concert raised in excess of £3,000 and this sum was match-funded by Greenham Common Trust through The Good Exchange making a total of £6,000. The funds raised were in aid of Ark Cancer Centre Charity and the director of fundraising and communications Mark Jones thanked everyone for their support. He also updated the audience on the progress of the charity’s £5m appeal and the cancer treatment centre project.
