A woman who was trapped against a wall by a reversing bus has been awarded £3,800 compensation.
The 45-year-old had been walking along the pavement with her daughter when a bus driver misjudged a turn. The bus swung too far and backed on to the pavement towards the woman.
She was trapped against the wall and couldn’t move. She needed to push her daughter into the wall to stop her going under the bus.
The woman suffered injuries to her knee and upper body. The pain in her back, neck and shoulder lasted for about three months. The pain to her knee was ongoing and made it impossible for her to take part in exercise classes.
The woman brought an action against the bus company, claiming that the driver had been negligent in going on to the pavement and failing to be aware of pedestrians.
The company admitted liability and agreed to an out-of-court settlement of £3,800 to compensate for her pain, suffering and loss of amenity.
