Career History & Expertise: Ian graduated from the University of Bristol and was admitted as a solicitor in 1979. He then worked at Baileys Shaw & Gillett in the West end of London before joining the legal department of John Laing plc in Mill Hill in 1984. He was involved for the next 18 years with all aspects of commercial property development, including acquisitions, funding, lettings and disposals and with procurement issues, as well as liaison with external counsel. He became a director of John Laing Developments Limited and later John Laing Property plc.
On the restructuring of the group in 2002, Ian returned to private practice and joined Over Taylor Biggs (now OTB Eveling LLP), a specialist commercial practice in Exeter, from where he continued with a wide range of commercial and residential property development matters and a substantial amount of property investment and management work for a pension fund.
Hobbies & Interests: Ian is a member of the MCC and a Vice President of Hampstead and Westminster Hockey Club, publishing a newsletter for former members and friends of the club. He was Manager of the Men’s 1st XI for six years in their promotion to and participation in the Premier Division of the National League. He also enjoys woodworking and compiling alphabets.
